Sharjah Biennial: A Visual History Through Posters

This exhibition presents a selection of posters that document the Sharjah Biennial from its inaugural edition to the most recent. Bringing together approximately sixteen editions, the display traces the evolution of the Biennial’s visual identity and graphic language.

Each poster reflects a particular moment in the Biennial’s history, revealing changing approaches to typography, composition, imagery, and visual communication. Viewed collectively, the posters form a visual archive that explores the relationship between graphic design, cultural expression, and the evolving identity of one of the region’s significant contemporary art platforms.

The exhibition invites visitors to consider the poster not merely as a promotional medium, but as a historical document that captures the visual culture and artistic direction of its time.
