Belonging is a fundamental human need, driven by our innate desire to connect with others and find acceptance within a group. This need is closely linked to trust; when trust exists, meaningful relationships can flourish, enhancing mental and social well-being. In nurturing environments, stronger relationships develop, improving overall quality of life. Flowers have long symbolized human emotions, representing love, joy, and beauty, and fostering deep emotional connections. They not only provide comfort but also play a vital role in strengthening interpersonal bonds and promoting mental well-being, bridging the gap between humanity and nature. This project utilizes computer vision, a machine learning technique that enables computers to analyze images and videos via webcams. It mimics human vision, allowing for event detection, activity recognition, and object tracking. A specific application, the Face Detection Algorithm, identifies faces by locating key facial features through machine learning, which starts with eye detection and then confirms the presence of a face by comparing features to training data. Included in this project is a masking effect that creates generative flowers, dynamically responding to the audience’s movements around the letterforms of “TRUST.” Masking in computer graphics alters parts of an image for aesthetic purposes or to conceal unwanted elements. The generative flowers draw inspiration from the Korean CCM “Flowers” (꽃들도) by MEBIG, originally created for a children’s workshop in Japan. This innovative project presents a multisensory art experience that combines sound, human interaction, virtual floral elements, and computer vision, all centered around concepts of belonging and trust.
