Pathum Egodawatta is a Sri Lankan typeface designer and font engineer specializing in Sinhala and Thaana writing systems. He received his MA in Typeface Design from the University of Reading with distinction in 2016 and a BA in Graphic Design from the Academy of Design (AOD), Colombo, in 2013 with distinction. Egodawatta gained international attention from the design community for his graduation project at AOD. Since then, he has worked as a type designer, consultant, and project manager on international font projects for Google, Uber, Toyota, and other concerns. Egodawatta regularly contributes to Open Source font development software in UX and documentation. He is a co-founder of Mooniak, a boutique type and graphic design studio working on trilingual fonts and editorial projects in Sri Lanka. Egodawatta also co-founded the Institute of Typography—Sri Lanka, a research body focusing on advancing the field of typography in the South Asian region.
