Letters for the Future: Ten Years of the Gerard Unger Scholarship

Created to mark the 10th anniversary of the Gerard Unger Scholarship, Letters for the Future celebrates a decade of mentorship, experimentation, and emerging voices in type design. Named in honour of type designer and educator Dr. Gerard Unger (1942–2018), the scholarship supports exceptional typeface projects begun during a course of study and helps selected designers develop them toward professional completion and publication with guidance from the TypeTogether team. Through a series of large-format posters, the exhibition presents the designers and projects that have shaped the scholarship’s first decade, reflecting its commitment to research, innovation, and the future of type design. The exhibition is accompanied by the publication Letters for the Future: Ten Years of the Gerard Unger Scholarship.
