Get a Taste of Hangul Type!—Part 2 of 2

This workshop will be conducted in two two-hour sessions over the course of two days. You must sign up for both sessions in order to confirm your participation. Part 1 will take place at 9:00 am Eastern on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Part 2, the essential feedback session, will take place at 9:00 am Eastern on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Do you want to sketch the name of your favorite K-pop stars in Hangul? Or would you like to find a good matching Hangul typeface for your Latin font? This workshop offers basic, practical information about Hangul design. You’ll get to know the overall design process of the Hangul script through several case studies and explore the graphemes and the relation of structures as well.

The workshop consists of short lectures, Hangul design assignments (simple words), and feedback on tasks. This class will provide an easy but informative experience. After this workshop, you will better understand Hangul script design and may want to become a Hangul type designer (hopefully)! As type designers in Korea, we feel that interest in Hangul script is gradually increasing, and we hope more people will come to understand Hangul script design through this workshop.
