Nada Abdallah is ATypI’s New Vice President

ATypI is pleased to announce that, during the March 8 Board meeting, Nada Abdallah (UAE) was elected by the board as the new Vice President of ATypI, unopposed.

I feel honored by the trust you placed in me, and will put forth my utmost effort towards serving our organization.

Nada Abdallah is an artist, designer, and educator. She is an Assistant Professor of Visual Communication at the College of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Sharjah. She is also the Founder of Bilarabic Design Festival and Director of Meta.motif masterclasses. Nada holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Visual Communication from the American University of Sharjah and an MFA from the Lebanese University. Before joining the University of Sharjah, she taught design at Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology, Lebanese University, and Lebanese International University.

Nada has won several awards in design and photography and sponsored numerous winning students’ projects. Juror in various International Typography Competitions such as the TDC awards. Her work has been exhibited in Lebanon, UAE, Greece, Korea, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, KSA, USA, and other. Active since the early 1990s, Nada’s work and research focus is on Arabic calligraphy and typography and prehistoric motif design.

ATypI thanks Dr Sumanthri Samarawickrama for her work as a board member and vice president. Sumanthri resigned after three and a half years on the board, due to her extensive work commitments with the Department of Integrated Design at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.
