Want to find out all about ATypI’s next in-person conference, to be held April 16–20 in Brisbane, Australia? Fantastic! We can’t wait to share some exciting news with you, so we’re planning a live Zoom launch where you can learn all about ATypI Brisbane and get your questions answered.
At the Brisbane Live Kick-Off on August 31, 2023, you will learn first-hand about the conference structure, dates, venues, the local type scene in Brisbane, and other essential info. We will discuss the upcoming call for proposals for presentations, workshops, exhibitions, and other conference programming. ATypI is especially interested in assisting first-time speakers and elevating voices from underrepresented communities. At the kick-off events, you’ll gain insight into the sort of topics that are perfect for an ATypI audience, and get helpful hints on how to create an effective proposal.
You’ll also be the first to know about discounted pricing and when Super Early member tickets will be available. Best of all, you will learn more about the beautiful, thriving city of Brisbane and meet the local organizing team. This is a chance to ask your most burning questions about ATypI’s first foray into Australia!
Your hosts for the kick-off will be ATypI president Crystian Cruz, an award-winning Brazilian publication designer, type designer, and design educator relocated to Newcastle, Australia, and Gold Coast/Brisbane design academic Dominique Falla, founder of the Typism lettering community and local chair of the ATypI 2024 conference team.
Other members of the Brisbane local team and ATypI’s international event crew will be on hand to join Dominique and Crystian as they share details about conference planning in progress, and to assist with what’s sure to be a lively Q&A session with all who join the kick-off.
There will be two sessions: one timed for folks in Asia Pacific (APAC) and Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), and another scheduled for those in the Americas. Feel free to sign up for both if you can stay awake!

Each session is scheduled to last approximately 60–90 minutes. Sessions will not be recorded, and participants may keep cameras on or off as they prefer.
