Speaker Yaprak Buse Çağlar

Yaprak Buse is a type designer and recent graduate of the EsadType program and DNSEP at ESAD Amiens. Passionate about letters and the diverse writing systems of the world, she explores typography as a cultural and historical phenomenon.

Her work is deeply rooted in research and design, focusing on the intersections of linguistic evolution and typographic identity. She is particularly interested in how writing systems develop and adapt over time, influencing visual communication.

Beyond type design, Yaprak Buse is fascinated by language and communication. Her multilingual curiosity informs her perspective on typography, shaping her approach to designing typefaces that embrace linguistic and stylistic diversity.

She also has a particular interest in italic letterforms—their history, evolution, and expressive potential. Whether through research or design, she continuously seeks to expand her understanding of typography and its role in cultural identity.
