Speaker Ola Lindgren
Ola Lindgren is a Swedish designer and artist based in Gothenburg. With a background and professional practice rooted in typography and graphic design, she brings tools and methods into her artistic practice where she can work with the material and physical qualities of text, typography, and messages. Her work is often expressed through visual and spatial installations, printmaking, and performance.
Thematically, Ola is interested in contemporary phenomena and critical perspectives, often with the ingredients of time, energy, and politics. After over a decade as a professional designer, working mostly independently with client projects, Ola has gradually shifted to focus more on research and artistic work that can address contemporary societal challenges and expand and contribute to the field of typography.
To focus on these topics fully, Ola spent two years in exploratory work at the MFA Design program at HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, where she developed “The Community Press” as her master thesis project. She was later awarded the Gurmund & Neuberger Scholarship for Artistic Education, STA100 for Typographic Excellence, and Young Swedish Design 2024, a prestigious award and a year-long touring exhibition through Sweden.
