The Swedish newspaper corporation Sydostpress has chosen an unusual design strategy: First, two people from each paper were educated in graphic design. Afterwards, they redesigned-with a little help from design consultant Ole Munk.

Ole Munk

Ole Munk, born 1956. Newspaper designer and consultant. Ole Munk holds an architectural degree from the Royal Academy of arts in Copenhagen. He entered the newspaper busi­ness via the comic strip FELIX (1976-85) and later became a graphic artist at POLITIKEN. Employed by the Graphic Arts Institute of Copenhagen 1989-95, partner of design com­pany Ribergard & Munk (www.ribmunk.dk) since 1995. President of Society for News Design/Scandinavia 1997-99. Consultancy jobs for numerous Scandinavian newspapers, e g Sydsvenska Dagbladet, Smålandsposten, Barometern, and Eskilstuna-Kuriren (Sweden); Politiken, Jyllands-Posten, Ekstra Bladet, Fyns Amts Avis, and Fredericia Dagblad (Denmark); plus Bergens Tidende (Norway).
