ATypI welcomes expressions of interest from institutions and organizations worldwide that want to host a future ATypI conference. Every edition is shaped by its location: its people, languages, writing systems, institutions, and design community.

Since 1957, ATypI has brought the international type community together in more than 40 cities, from Lausanne to Sharjah. Each host has added its own chapter to that history.

Who can host?
Universities, museums, cultural institutions, foundations, design organizations, government or municipal cultural bodies, and partnerships or consortia of local organizations.
How it works
1. Express your interest
Tell us about your institution, your city, and why you would like to host ATypI. It takes a few minutes.
2. Develop a full proposal
After an initial review, ATypI may invite you to prepare a full proposal covering your venue, partners, budget, and local team.
3. Board review and approval
The ATypI Board reviews proposals, followed by a host agreement and a public announcement.

No. Expressions of interest are open year-round, for any future conference year.
When is the conference held?
Typically in October, preferably Wednesday to Saturday. Alternative dates are subject to Board approval.
Can several organizations host together?
Yes. Partnerships and consortia of local organizations are welcome.
Does submitting interest secure a conference year?
No. The ATypI Board confirms conference locations and dates only after review and approval.
