ATypI Re-Elects Leadership Team for a Second Term Ahead of a Historic Year

30 June 2026 — The ATypI Board of Directors today unanimously re-elected three key Officers for a second term, reaffirming its confidence in the Association’s leadership as ATypI prepares for an exciting year ahead.

The vote comes soon after the successful ATypI 2026 Stanford conference (May 27 – May 30).

The following officers were re-elected, effective immediately on 30 June 2026:

  • Nada Abdallah – President
  • Laurence Penney – Vice President
  • Xunchang Cheng – Secretary

Over the past year, the Officers have worked closely with the Board and the wider ATypI community to strengthen the Association’s operations, support its international programs, and deliver a successful ATypI 2026 conference at Stanford University.

As they begin their second term, the officers will continue to advance ATypI’s mission of fostering excellence in typography and supporting a vibrant global community of type designers, educators, researchers, and practitioners.

The coming year will be marked by an important milestone for the Association: ATypI 2026 Sharjah, taking place from 28–31 October 2026 at the University of the Arts Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The conference will be the first ATypI conference held in the Middle East and reflects the Association’s ongoing commitment to expanding its global reach and celebrating the diversity of typographic cultures and traditions.

ATypI extends its sincere thanks to its members, volunteers, and Board colleagues for their continued trust and support and looks forward to another year of collaboration, exchange, and community building.
