On behalf of ATypI, it is my pleasure to announce the configuration of our board of directors for 2023, after the elections that took place last week. We really appreciate you taking the time to suggest and review candidates, spread the news about our elections, volunteer, vote, and help us in any other way to shape our team for the upcoming challenges.
Eight new board members will be joining us and helping to shape the organization’s mission, vision, and strategy for the next three years. Some are new to the board, while others are in their second terms. We are thrilled to welcome Carolina Laudon, Henrique Nardi, Gloria Kondrup, Wayne Thompson, Zhao Liu, Thomas Phinney, David Lemon, and Jason Pamental. With a great mix of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives from around the world, we are certain that they will be able to help our association move forward in an exciting direction.
To learn more about each one of these amazing typographic superheroes, please head to the dedicated section on our website.
We would also like to acknowledge the contributions of Sonja Knecht, Petra Černe Oven, Ksenya Samarskaya, Zenab Bastawala, and Sunita Dangol as they leave their roles after completing their terms with us. We truly appreciate what each one of these amazing women has done for ATypI over the last few years and thank them for their dedication to our organization.
Building a truly global community has always been a strong pillar of ATypI. Having board members from various parts of the world is essential for an international organization like ours, as it ensures that all voices—both those near and far—are heard.
At ATypI, we encourage creating an environment where everyone feels included and empowered to contribute their ideas and expertise. So I encourage you, my beloved member, to reach out to myself and other board members to share your ideas that may help further the ATypI mission and elevate your community. You will have the chance to meet and greet the new board members at our upcoming conference in Paris, May 9-14, 2023.
Warm regards,
Crystian Cruz, President
ATypI Board of Directors
