Speaker Monika Marek-Łucka
Typographer, researcher with focus on the history of writing, text artist, graphic designer. She writes and lectures on typography as a medium of visual communication and writing as a cultural phenomenon. A speaker at international design and typography conferences, she also conducts workshops and curates exhibitions. She has served as a jury member for design competitions (including the Young Ones 2025). Together with Andrzej Tomaszewski, she co-authored the anthology of texts from the first Polish typography magazine “Litera” (Warsaw 2019).
She is a lecturer at the Faculty of New Media Arts at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw, where she teaches calligraphy, typography, and visual communication. She is also the curator of the Type Directors Club Archive, the only official TDC partner in Poland and Central Europe.
A graduate of Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and Philosophy at the University of Warsaw, her artistic practice explores the intersections of the visuality of writing, the performativity of the writing gesture, and new media.
