In the age of artificial intelligence, Hanyi Fonts is committed to exploring new pathways for survival and growth. As one of the most prominent topics of our time, AI is inevitably reshaping how we operate as a contemporary type foundry. For Hanyi, it represents both an opportunity and a challenge. The key to effectively utilising AI in our unique area of business lies in our own decisions and actions.
Hanyi is currently exploring AI integration on two distinct fronts: First, as a productivity tool within our internal workflows. We have begun leveraging AI to assist in combining components to form characters, aiming to enhance production efficiency. These experiments have not only streamlined the production process but also improved the overall quality and consistency of our typeface output.
Second, in the realm of the designer’s experience, we are embedding AI capabilities into everyday design scenarios to support more intelligent font selection and pairing. By incorporating AIGC and large language models, we are developing AI-powered assistants with what we call “design intuition.” For example, on our Ziyou platform, the intelligent assistant can recommend fonts based on visual context, usage scenarios, and language detection. This provides meaningful suggestions for professional designers while also lowering the barrier for non-specialist users to access high-quality typographic solutions.
As a publicly listed type foundry, our vision for technological innovation extends beyond functionality, we are equally invested in the cultural responsibilities behind AI. In this new era, can type foundries contribute more actively to cultural innovation and social development? By utilising AI, we hope to expand the role of type beyond the letterform itself, pushing the boundaries of typography into the broader domain of visual culture.
