FreeType 2 is a software font engine that is designed to be small, efficient, highly customizable and portable while capable of producing high-quality output ( glyph images). It can be used in graphics libraries, display servers, font conversion tools, text image generation tools, and many other products as well.
David Turner is best known as the main author of the open-source FreeType font engine, and continues to drive its development since 1996. He is a 30 year old married Frenchman (surprisingly, in view of his English sounding name). He graduated from both Ecole Polytechnique (1992) and Telecom Paris (1997) and later worked in the fields of digital television and personal digital assistants. He is known as an independent software consultant, specialising in the fields of embedded systems development, scalable graphics rendering and digital typography.
