FitFont Technology: Multi-Axis Adjustment and Combining Different Scripts

“This presentation by Yui Yoshitomi will outline the features and ongoing development of the evolving FitFont technology. FitFont was developed for multi-axis adjustment and to facilitate the combining of different scripts. Since the 2012 announcement at ATypI Hong Kong about the technology’s early development stages as Adjustable Font with seamless weight control function, Type Project has continued its work pursuing increasingly versatile functionality. This technology is now available as FitFont with new and enhanced functionality: seamless adjustment in three axes (weight, contrast, and width), combining different scripts, and integrating multiple features from different fonts. These functions allow users to find the best appearance and combination of fonts according to their intended use. Based on the results of research and testing by Type Project, the development of additional functions is ongoing toward the future of the tech.”
