Join us in Brisbane at the ATypI Typographic Conference for our hands-on letterpress workshop, which offers a captivating blend of 19th-century printing techniques with cutting-edge digital innovation.
The Branding Irons and Block Chains workshop transports participants through a hands-on journey into crafting typographic identifiers inspired by the historical practice of branding animals for ownership. The workshop presents a unique fusion of 19th-century printing techniques with contemporary type design and digital innovation.
Led by design educator Clint Harvey and featuring insights from conference speakers Troy Leinster, Dzintra Menesis, and Melissa Silk, this workshop promises an immersive experience in typographic nuances.
Discover how traditional typography seamlessly intertwines with modern technology as you explore typographic arrangements inspired by the Queensland Brands font of 1872 as explored in the Bovine Pyroglyphics educational presentation at the ATypI conference later in the week—Thursday, April 18, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am
Through hands-on activities, participants will delve into the essence of wood type as brand marks as well as digital ownership via blockchain technology which culminates into a memorable educational experience.
Hosted at Queensland University of Technology’s Creative Industry precinct at Kelvin Grove, the workshop takes place within a bespoke mobile 40-foot shipping container, providing a unique setting for creative exploration. Nestled amidst the School of Design At QUT, this venue ensures convenient access to the city’s cultural and convention centres, enriching your overall experience of Brisbane.
