At the July 25 board meeting, Xunchang Cheng (China) was unanimously elected Secretary of the ATypI Board of Directors.
A dedicated ATypI member since 2018 and Chinese country delegate since 2021, Cheng has been instrumental in connecting the East Asian design community with ATypI.
From supporting Chinese speakers at conferences and promoting ATypI on regional platforms, to moderating sessions and presenting research at ATypI 2023 Paris and ATypI 2025 Copenhagen, Cheng’s contributions have been constant and far-reaching.
A typeface designer, researcher, and curator with a PhD from the University of Reading, Cheng brings deep expertise in Chinese typography and a strong commitment to global dialogue. His leadership reflects ATypI’s ongoing dedication to inclusivity and cross-cultural exchange.
