Wayne Thompson is a typeface designer from Newcastle, Australia. Wayne is the director and proprietor of Australian Type Foundry – beginning in 2001 – one of Australia’s earliest digital type foundries. Wayne has produced retail and custom typefaces for a wide range of clients internationally. In 2016, Wayne developed ABCSans which is currently in widespread use across the national broadcaster’s digital and television networks. He also enjoys working for smaller clients such as a micro brewery who pays him in beer. Wayne has a Masters degree in Typeface Design (MResTD) from the University of Reading, UK, the world’s most highly regarded type design program. Wayne’s aim is to always learn more about typography, and hopefully contribute an Aussie flavour to the world of type design.
