Crystian Cruz is a Brazilian senior multimedia designer and educator with broad experience in typeface design. He holds a Master degree in Typeface Design from Reading University (UK), and a Doctoral in Design from the University of Newcastle (Australia). For ten years, he worked as a creative director of prominent magazines and newspapers in Brazil, including GQ magazine, and as Head of Typography at Africa, one of the most notorious advertising agencies in South America. More recently, his design has been focused on branding, marketing, and short-term consultancies for advertising agencies and publishing houses. Crystian has been working as a part-time lecturer in Australian and Brazilian bachelor and postgraduate courses since 2003, and has presented talks at conferences such as ATypI, TypeCon, Diatipo and Bits. His collaboration with ATypI commenced in 2015, when he took part in the local organising committee for the conference ATypI São Paulo, having also designed the event's visual identity. In 2017, he joined the board of ATypI and is currently serving as President.
