Airports

You can get to Brighton easily from both of the two major London airports

London Gatwick

London Gatwick is Brighton's local airport and is served by most international carriers, just 49 km / 31 miles from central Brighton.

There are buses and frequent direct trains from the airport to the city.

By bus: National Express: http://www.nationalexpress.com/ Cost: One way, £6.60 – Return, £10.10.

By train: from the airport's South Terminal there are 2/3 trains an hour direct to Brighton. A one-way ticket costs a maximum of £7.90.

London Heathrow

London Heathrow Airport, situated 114 km / 71 miles from Brighton, is further away but there are a number of transport links.

If you are travelling direct, the best route is probably by bus. Depending on the time of day, you may be able to get a bus direct to Brighton (once an hour from Heathrow during the day). The direct trip takes just over two hours and costs £20 one-way. Details from http://www.nationalexpress.com/

Heathrow is well-connected to central London by Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station (about 15 minutes). From there, you must travel across London to Victoria Station to take train to Brighton. Or you can take a RailAir bus to Reading, which has trains to Brighton every hour.

By car

Don't come by car. Brighton is not a car-friendly city. Parking is scarce and expensive, and traffic can be difficult. The city is fairly small, public transport is good and taxis are common.
